CBS Christmas Jam Workshop - Unwrap New Blues Skills!
Join us for a festive edition of the Canberra Blues Society Jam Workshop! If you’re looking to boost your confidence, sharpen your blues chops, and gain experience playing in a live band setting, this special Christmas workshop is the perfect place to do it.
These popular sessions offer a relaxed, supportive atmosphere where musicians and singers of all levels can perform with a live band, connect with fellow jammers, and share ideas—seasonal cheer included!
This month, we’re inviting everyone to wear your favourite band T-shirt to add to the fun. We’ll also have snacks on the tables for attendees, so you can nibble, mingle, and enjoy the Christmas vibes between tunes.
You’ll gain a deeper understanding of blues song structure, improve your band communication, and develop the art of spontaneous musical conversation with other players. While we don’t focus on individual instrumental technique, the workshop is a great opportunity to strengthen your overall musicianship in a friendly, festive environment.
The sessions are led by the CBS Workshop House Band, featuring some of our finest local musicians. Each month’s setlist is posted in the Canberra Blues Society Jam Workshop Facebook group.
Come along, celebrate the season, wear your best band tee, and make some merry blues music!

JAMMING AT THE WORKSHOP

These workshops are usually held on the 1st Wed each month, except January, at The Harmonie German Club. Three tunes are covered, with the house band demonstrating each, then inviting attendees to play.
The workshops are not intended to show you how to play your instrument, but they may give you a better understanding about how blues music is structured and how to sit in with other musicians, with whom you have not rehearsed.
The workshop jams aim to create a supportive, non-threatening environment where less confident participants can perform in a band situation.
NOTE: The selection of pieces to be used is at the Workshop Facebook Group
