JD Band is a Canberra-based band playing blues, roots and ballads, with vibes from the bars of New Orleans to the swamps of southern Texas.
With three songwriters in the band there is plenty of original material on offer, sometimes with a contemporary approach but without straying far from their affinity for traditional blues.
The band derived from the acoustic duo, Jeff & Deej (Jeff Prime and Dorothy-Jane ‘DJ’ Gosper) that released its debut album Blues By Candlelight in 2019 after performing together for four years. Now a four-piece with Prime switching to electric guitar and over-driven resonator, along with the addition of Dean Edgecombe (bass/vocal) and Gavin Kelly (drums), the band delivers an overall fuller, punchier sound.
JD Band recently launched their new album 'Down To The Water'.
Band members-
Canberra’s Blues force of nature, DJ (Dorothy-Jane 'Deej' 'DJ' Gosper) is well-known for her expressive vocal, harmonica playing and captivating stage presence.
Jeff Prime has played in local Canberra bands for many years. He and DJ have performed together since 2015. Jeff’s background is steeped in the Blues and while he admires the slick electric guitar work of modern artists, Jeff always had a yearning for swampy southern blues. This has led him to play the resonator guitar and the rich soulful music of this region.
Dean Edgecombe, a seasoned bassist and vocalist, whose first love is the Blues, rounds out the sound and lays down the groove.
Full line-up for this Jam includes Gavin Kelly on drums. Smokin!
The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the region jamming together for a great afternoon of live blues music. So bring your family, bring your friends and don’t forget your dancing shoes.
